Every minister has been entrusted with divine deposits — spiritual gifts meant to serve the Body of Christ and advance the Kingdom. Yet, many gifts lie dormant, not because God withheld grace, but because we have not stirred what He already placed within us. Paul’s reminder to Timothy still echoes today: “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” — 2 Timothy 1:6.
Your gift grows through recognition and refinement. Recognition comes by revelation; refinement comes by responsibility. When you pay attention to the burdens that move your heart, the passions that keep you awake in prayer, and the areas where your obedience produces fruit, you begin to identify your unique gift. But discovery is not the end—it’s the beginning. God refines His gifts through process, pruning, and perseverance. The more you use what He gave, the stronger it becomes.
Don’t wait for a stage to serve; start where you are. The gift matures through consistent use, humility, and submission to the Holy Spirit. Remember, the purpose of your gift is not performance but service — to build others, not to make a name for yourself. “Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” — 1 Corinthians 14:12. Stir it. Sharpen it. Let your gift speak through grace and love.
